Big problem in Google’s AI research
Facebook’s AI research head professor Ian Lican sees big problem for US search engine giant Google’s AI research center ‘Deepmind’.
Lican thinks that Deemind’s main problem is that, it is situated far away from California. So this center has to work all by itself. It can’t take help from others. He told these thoughts in an interview to Business Insider. He said “I think main problem is Deepmind is isolated from California geographically and that makes hard for it to make technology for a product.”
Deepmind didn’t give any statement regarding this after asking about this.
Deepmind don’t have effect on every Google product. But recently Google announced that they used an important part of algorithm created by Deepmind’s own research.
They said that using AI they have saved 40% energy of their data cooling center. In 2014 this data center used 4402836 megawatt hour which is equivalent to electricity use of 366903 families in USA.
Google’s main institute Alphabet bought Deepmind for 400 million British pound I 2014. Right no 250 people works in the institute.
